Self discovery

Have you ever wondered how much time you spend procrastinating on certain tasks?. well if you have here is what i have noticed about me!! hopefully it would lead you to discovering your self on procrastination to.....

    “where do you stand on the perils of procrastination?” made me realize how much time I waste before doing certain task daily. Sometimes I find it hard to motivate myself when I have a list of other things I need to work on. I would always find reasons as to why I can’t work on a particular task just to clear my conscience of guilt. I am very conscious about doing my work right and on time, but many other factors like the length of the assignment, type of assignment and the due date makes it easy for me to push them farther away towards the anticipated due date. Recently I have found out that I am more inclined to procrastinate on works that involves a lot of writing and reasoning than assignment that have a path of reasoning or directive, like mathematics.

        For instance, I am most likely to finish my mathematics assignment weeks before the due date, not because I like math’s but because it does not require me to put words together and pass a message with it. On the other hand when I have a research paper to write on I easily get distracted by my Facebook page. Anytime I have something of this nature to do is when I would get loads of text messages. I find it rude on my path to not reply these chats which makes me a victim of procrastination on that assignment. While sometimes I am legitimately worked out on other assignments that needs much more focus and time. This reason makes other assignments less worthy of my time.

        I also find it difficult in prioritizing my work and the people around me. This is one of my biggest nightmares right from day one.  I believe that if I can make certain things my priority I would be more focused and procrastinate less when it comes to doing my work. Recently I have taken steps in order to reduce the rate at which I procrastinate. I normally go to the school library after class to study and finish most of my assignments before going to do something entirely different from school work. This has helped me today to be more efficient in my work and also it has made my life much easier

What is Human Trafficking?

Human Trafficking is defined by the international Association of Human Trafficking Investigators as: the exploitation by force, fraud, or coercion of vulnerable people for forced labor, domestic servitude or commercial sex. This explains human trafficking as the modern slavery.

This problem is an uprising problem in the Houston community which involves mainly women and children. Trafficking victims in Houston can be divided into three categories:

1. Minors induced into commercial sex activity, mostly the feminine gender.
2. Adults involved in commercial sex activities with the use of force or fraud.
3. Children and adults forced to perform services against their wish.

  

Why is Human Trafficking a problem?

Human trafficking is a problem for reasons like the decrease in social development; in cases whereby young children are being drawn into involuntary servitude it hinders the educational development and potential productivity of its victims. Due to the trauma of their experiences of exploitation these victims are being excluded from the society.

Another problem is that it puts additional pressure on border security; the fact that about a million and more people are being brought into the country through human trafficking could increase crime rates as well as hinder the well being of individuals of the community. In such cases the government would want to cut other funds the community is getting to protect its border which would make life harder for most of the people in the community.

My Mini Biography

  

   In life many people go through a lot to find where their passion lies. Most people find it in their career field and some within their surroundings. I found mine in my career path, which is computer engineering. My personal interest in computer engineering is rooted in my desire to make life easier for people, to be educated in various topics pertaining engineering, and to explore my fullest potential through a meaningful career.

    My first inclination to become a computer engineer rose from watching movies. A significant part of my character is devoted to manipulating computers like the people in these movies, utilizing gadgets to their fullest potential. Armed with my personal experiences and a drive for wealth, I know this career path would be the best career to explore my potentials.

    My first year of higher education so far has been extremely interesting and challenging. Through pre-engineering courses, I have been learning about computer languages, programming part of a computer and the innumerable processes that are occurring constantly in computers.

    It is important to me that I have a passion for whatever path my life takes. Since I have control over the path, I am choosing to pursue a career that will provide my life with both meaning and satisfaction. I plan to continue to challenge myself with the rigorous computer engineering and software programs at the University of North Texas, and in the future with a challenging engineering profession.
